Oh my goodness… how many times have those words come out of my mouth? Or Monday… starting on Monday is another lie I have said many times. Why is it a lie? Because tomorrow and/or Monday comes around and I likely won’t stick to a plan then either. Starting tomorrow or Monday also happens over and over – like restart again and again… and again. Barb says we need to ban the phrase “I’ll start tomorrow” from our vocabulary. I agree. But that means… I know- life long boundaries. Plus have any of you ever said I’ll start tomorrow and so the day before “tomorrow” is an all-out-eat-fest?? I can’t even count how many times I have done that. Right now I think I’m thankful that not too many people know about this blog. 🙂
So during the Bible study portion of day 3, we looked at 4 Scriptures. I’m going to list them here:
Do you like honey? Don’t eat too much, or it will make you sick! Proverbs 25:16 NLT
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. Romans 13:14 ESV
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. I Corinthians 10:31 ESV
Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. I Peter 2:11 ESV
We only covered four passages, but there are so many more. I have an index flip-book (you know, the kind that has index cards with a spiral that allows you to flip through them) where I have written out Scriptures that talk about the flesh. I am in the process of trying to memorize them. I’ve never been very successful at memorizing, but I’ve been using an App called BibleMemory and it seems to be helping. I know that God’s Word will not return void. I also know that Jesus quoted Scripture to Satan when He was tempted in the desert. So I want to hide His Word in my heart… be prepared for the darts that will most definitely come flying towards me. Help me, Jesus!!
